Can't Access Certain Apps/Websites

If you have read and have not found a solution in our knowledge base, kindly submit a ticket.

Since the Ryoko Pro’s Viaota SIM assigns a European IP address, some local sites may not work. Fortunately, you can fix this quickly..

Here are the steps on how to bypass the IP address to access your local websites:

Step 1 — Turn ON your Ryoko Pro pocket WiFi

  1. Press and hold the Power button until the device lights up.

  2. Wait for it to finish booting (usually less than 1 minute).

  3. Ensure the device has:

    • A data plan/ data

    • Good signal bars

    • Charged battery

Step 2 — Find the Ryoko Pro WiFi network name (SSID)

On the screen of the Ryoko Pro, look for:

  • WiFi Name (SSID)

  • WiFi Password

Note: The standard password for the Ryoko Pro/ Ryoko device is 12345678.

Step 3 — Connect your phone/laptop to the Ryoko Pro

On the device you want to use:

On a phone/tablet

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings

  2. Select your Ryoko Pro’s WiFi name

  3. Enter the WiFi password

On a laptop

  1. Click the WiFi icon

  2. Select the Ryoko network

  3. Enter the password

Note: If you see the message on your Ryoko Pro’s screen “waiting for network” please wait for at least 15mins for it connect to the nearest 4G LTE towers in your area.

Step 4 — Install a VPN app on your device

Since Ryoko Pro cannot run a VPN itself, install a VPN on the device using the WiFi.

Popular secure VPNs:

  • NordVPN

  • ExpressVPN

  • ProtonVPN

  • Surfshark

To install:

  • iPhone/iPad: open the App Store → search your VPN → Install

  • Android: open Google Play Store → Install

  • Windows/Mac: download from the VPN provider’s official website

Step 5 — Open the VPN app and sign in

  1. Launch the VPN app

  2. Log in with the account you created

  3. Allow any permissions the app asks for (e.g., VPN configuration)

Step 6 — Choose a VPN server

Inside the VPN app:

  1. Select a country or server location where the website or service you need is available

  2. Or simply use Quick Connect for automatic selection

Step 7 — Connect to the VPN

Tap Connect (or similar).
 Once connected:

  • Your device’s IP address changes

  • Traffic becomes encrypted

  • You can access content available in that server’s region

You are now using a VPN while connected to the Ryoko Pro pocket WiFi.

Step 8 — Try accessing your website/app

Open your browser or app.
It should now load using the VPN’s connection.

If it doesn’t work:

  • Switch to a different server

  • Clear browser cache

  • Restart the VPN app

Step 9 — Disconnect when finished

When you're done:

  1. Open the VPN app

  2. Tap Disconnect

Your device will return to normal Ryoko Pro internet without the VPN.
